Over on some of those new blogs I've been reading, the whole Myers-Briggs thing has come up again. I've got a somewhat better understanding of it all now, so I'll write more than I did last time.
Last time, I tested to be INFJ. When I retested (using a different test), I came out INTJ (but barely T). I really wish I had paid attention to how much I was each of those categories the first time. Ah well. I also went and read blurbs about each of the types this time around. Let's grab some fun quotes here.
INFJ stuff:
"Beneath the quiet exterior, INFJs hold deep convictions about the weightier matters of life."
Yeah, just a little.
"INFJs are champions of the oppressed and downtrodden. They often are found in the wake of an emergency, rescuing those who are in acute distress." I desire to be, but can't see HOW to help. Thus I despair, and knowing not what else to do, pray. Ironically, in doing so, it seems I empower those who know me to act. Like with that motorcycle crash...
"INFJs may fantasize about getting revenge on those who victimize the defenseless. The concept of 'poetic justice' is appealing to the INFJ." You have no clue. None whatsoever. Maybe it's a good thing I haven't been able to take Kendo lessons yet.
"friendship is a symbiotic bond that transcends mere words." There's a reason many of my friends consider me more a brother than a friend.
"INFJs have a knack for fluency in language and facility in communication." Ummm...I'm fascinated by languages, but not so good with them...though I do have four prayer languages.
"Their amazing ability to deduce the inner workings of the mind, will and emotions of others gives INFJs their reputation as prophets and seers." True. I can usually unravel exactly what's ticking inside somebody's head. Plus, I actually am prophetic, so, you know.
"INFJs, like their fellow intuitives, may be so absorbed in intuitive perceiving that they become oblivious to physical reality." Let's laugh at Stephen as he's completely oblivious to what's going on around him, shall we?
"INFJs, like many other FJ types, find themselves caught between the desire to express their wealth of feelings and moral conclusions about the actions and attitudes of others, and the awareness of the consequences of unbridled candor." At this point in life, I tend to share more, but that's a response to having done the opposite for years.
"In their own way, INFJs are just as much "systems builders" as are INTJs; the difference lies in that most INFJ "systems" are founded on human beings and human values, rather than information and technology." So when society collapses into anarchy, who's joining my community?
Famous INFJs (I've reordered and trimmed down the list)
Mother Teresa of Calcutta
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Mel Gibson
Nathan, prophet of Israel - ha! "You are the man!" is perhaps one of the moments that attracts me most biblically. Probably that's because I can feel the emotions and thoughts of everyone involved, and relate it to myself.
INTJ stuff:
"When it comes to their own areas of expertise -- and INTJs can have several -- they will be able to tell you almost immediately whether or not they can help you, and if so, how." Thus my line, "You'd be surprised how much my major doesn't teach me about computers."
"INTJs apply (often ruthlessly) the criterion 'Does it work?'" I tend to phrase it more as "What's the point?"
"Whatever system an INTJ happens to be working on is for them the equivalent of a moral cause to an INFJ; both perfectionism and disregard for authority may come into play, as INTJs can be unsparing of both themselves and the others on the project. Anyone considered to be "slacking," including superiors, will lose their respect..." Group projects, bane of my existence, for that very reason.
"Typical INTJ career choices are in the sciences and engineering, but they can be found wherever a combination of intellect and incisiveness are required." what, what?
Others may see what is and wonder why; INTJs see what might be and say "Why not?!" Yeppers.
"The internal form of the INTJ's thoughts and concepts is highly individualized, and is not readily translatable into a form that others will understand. However, the INTJ is driven to translate their ideas into a plan or system that is usually readily explainable, rather than to do a direct translation of their thoughts. They usually don't see the value of a direct transaction, and will also have difficulty expressing their ideas, which are non-linear. However, their extreme respect of knowledge and intelligence will motivate them to explain themselves to another person who they feel is deserving of the effort." I seem to recall a few highly technical blog posts around here. And let's hear it for non-linear thought!
"They dislike messiness and inefficiency, and anything that is muddled or unclear." Not to the same extent as Doug, but I tend to be that way.
Famous INTJs
Hannibal, Carthaginian military leader (maybe I was wrong to play Rome in that Civ3 scenario)
C. S. Lewis (such happiness to be compared to him!)
Thomas Jefferson
Mr. Darcy (hrm...)
Gandalf the Grey (hehehehehehehehehe!!)
Hannibal Lecter (er...)
Professor Moriarty (I'll stay away from waterfalls)
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern (but less of the betraying of my friends, I hope)
So, it seems I definitely have elements of both going on. I love being hard to classify!
Thought, opinions from those who know me? Or from the Morabito factor?

Though I don't really understand what you're talking about here, this seems interesting. Maybe you could elaborate so I understand.
I don't think I know you well enough to give any meaningful feedback, but . . . ever since I had any kind of idea what it meant, I've rather thought of you as an INTJ. But since I don't remember what F and T stand for, I'm probably not the best person to ask.
And I find it rather disturbing that C.S. Lewis and Gandalf are in the same category as Moriarty and Hannibal Lector . . .
I'm really looking forward to more on the spiritual gifts.
HEY! I'm an INFJ too... which is wild because we are considered "rare"...
I prefer medium rare....
